Hobart Brewing Co. opened the doors to it’s Red Shed on Macquarie Point in 2016. Founder, Brendan, was inspired after a trip to Belgium and was joined by brewer, Scott, who learned his trade in Colorado, before brewing for Moo Brew in Tasmania, then settling in at HBC. The venue, with it’s large outdoor area, plays host to lots of live gigs and some fantastic Dark Mofo activites.
Tom and Carla Bignell launched T-Bone Brewing in 2015. Tom was an avid home brewer and utilised his father’s award winning distillery, Belgrove when he was first getting started. The husband and wife team are now based on Elizabeth street, where they use recycled cooking oil to help power their brewery.
Shambles was opened in 2016 by a couple of avid home brewers, following the ‘beer-life crisis’ of ex-science teacher, Cornel Ianculovici. Joined by his brother, Adrian, the pair brew a mixture of different styles in their converted warehouse premises on Hobart’s city fringe.
Fox Friday is owned and operated by Ben and Sarah Hooper. They relocated to Hobart and took over the existing brand, changing the line-up to one that focuses on modern hazy style IPA’s with very hop forward profiles. The Fox Friday Brewery is located in Moonah, but we’ll be visiting their new Tasting Bar.
